Life is Better on the Farm

Some call it the middle of nowhere, I call it the center of my world

This started out to be about my husband's goats. His nanny, Rosie, had twins and they are adorable as you can see! I make jokes about my husband's farm and how I am not a 'sports widow' but a 'farm animal widow.' Not only does he have goats, but chickens and rabbits.

However, as I started thinking about this post, it changed. I realized that it isn't about my husband's farm, but our home. The 19.81 acres that we live on is family land. My mom's family, her dad purchased 100 acres probably in the 1930's. Back then I'm sure he struggled to pay for this land, but he held on to and gave it to his children. My grandparents had five children, my mother was the only girl and a twin.

She passed when she was 46 years old. It became mine and my two sisters. We each got 6.98 acres. I am currently the only one of the three living on it. My youngest sister sold out, my oldest is letting her son and his family live on it. My husband & I later bought 12.83 from one of my mom's brothers. Would love to be able to buy more.

Like any good tree that one would hope to grow, we must set our roots deep into the ground so that what is real will prosper in the Light of Love. ~ Billy Corgan ~

I'm very thankful that we have been able to hold on to this little slice of heaven. It has become our sanctuary. We enjoy planting, building & just enjoying. It will be something that we can pass on to our two children. Everyone wants a piece of land. It's the only sure investment. It can never depreciate like a car or washing machine. Land will only double its value and there will never anymore than what their is.

"Of all the paths you take in life. Make sure a few of them are dirt."
